"As a means to achieve that (prevent unskilled players from losing instantaneously), Capcom is looking into possibly implementing some kind of pay-for-advantage system in Street Fighter 5 that will allow new players to cover for their lack of skill in matches."

The "Damage Control" came later with two tweets by Yoshinori ono who seems to be on board again:

The SFV news today about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn't something we're planning for.

Sorry for the confusion! We're still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date.

Think about it what you will, but this means at least that Street Fighter V is in the planning stages already.

I really hope that there won't be any "pay to win" crap like gems which could give unskilled players advantages. If you want to be good in a fighting game..learn it.

Capcom, you just need a good matchmaking system that keeps track of all player stats (no of matches played total and per character, win-loss ratio total and per character, no of disconnects .. etc etc) .. if you get that right "unskilled players will be matched with other new players or slightly more skilled ones .. and of course there is a non-ranked online mode and a training mode for a reason .. implementing any for of pay-to-win in a highly competitive game like SF is just going to kill the franchise forever.
